Vancouver Holiday Events: Winter’s Dance #onRobson Returns

On December 1 and 2 Winter’s Dance #onRobson returns for its third public art installation to kick off the holiday season. ‘The Music Box Dancers’ will come to life in a burst of colour, light and music at 1155 Robson Street at 6 p.m. each night.

Winter’s Dance is a fusion of live and digital dance complemented by innovative technology to create a unique holiday experience amid the hustle and bustle of Robson Street. The short, whimsical story will be projected onto the facade of the John Robson Building while live dancers can also be found performing in the windows of neighbouring storefronts that are enhanced with special augmented reality features. The performances will repeat every fifteen minutes throughout the evening until 9 p.m.

Cannoli King BCHugs by Mollie’s Minis – Gourmet Mini Donuts and Kafka’s Coffee and Tea food trucks will also be on-site offering warm beverages, as well as sweet treats to keep spectators warm and refueled. The merriment continues at Bute Robson Plaza, which will feature another wintery installation, perfect for that holiday Instagram-worthy moment. The official launch will take place on Friday, Nov. 30th and will include live dancers performing inside a snow globe for that evening only. The rest of the installation will remain in place throughout the month of December for all to enjoy.

Take a break from your shopping or grab a table at one of the nearby restaurants and take in the spectacle while enjoying a cocktail or two. CinCin, Cactus Club and Zefferelli’s all have great views of the show.
